Hi everyone, time for an update.

In the past few weeks, I have been working on redesigning the website and bringing it back to the graphical glory it once had. It's not finished yet, but I've made a lot of progress so far so I fully expect it to be finished before the new Hobbit movie comes out. I will give a precise date once I get past a couple of technical issues I'm facing and then the count down will begin.

At this stage I am aiming for early November, but I am pretty confident I can get it done before then.

Hang in there... and watch this space!

:D It's great to hear thing's are still happening behind the scenes. :D

And wow, if it could be up in time for the hobbit movie, that would be awesome. I guess it's been so long that I have almost got used to it being this bland blue.....Not that I thought that nothing was happening, but after a couple of years and no huge (graphical) updates happening, you sorta get used to it.....


Anyways, I'm am stunned to hear that it could be this soon, and super pumped! I look forward to nice grapgics, and then hopefully the article system will be worked out and we can get some new articles.....(hard to believe there hasn't really been any new articles for ~2 years. :shock: )

Yes, the issues with the article library are being worked on too and will be a part of the release.

Wahoo!!!! I'm very glad to hear it, Dagorlad! Thanks for all the work you and all the others have done for this site over the years- I originally saw it back in the beginning, and am looking forward to seeing it anew! May the restoration of the graphics be as wonderful or even more so than what they were before! :dmf: All hail!

It's great to see that there's a lot of interest and people are keen on seeing the site return to something of it's former glory. I can guarantee that it will look a lot better than pretty much any other fansite out there.

I am concentrating on redesigning the 'skin' of the website first and foremost. This release won't have any new features (except perhaps a different coloured :dmf: or two) but I will be fixing bugs (like the article system).

After this has been installed and bedded down (there will be plenty of things that need fixing), I will work on re-introducing the Gold Coin system - we all loved that and it made the One Ring a unique and fun place to hang out. I can't see that being done before the end of this year though - it's my busy period at work and I simply won't have the energy to do anything on the site at all.

And next year, I am hoping to run a campaign. :shock:

But, and this is a significant but, it might be beyond my ability as a programmer to achieve. Mithaearon from TLA was a very skilled programmer, way better than me, and managed to achieve something that was pretty impressive. I have mapped out the requirements for it and have solid ideas on how it should work, but actually programming it is something that will be a challenge for me. Wish me luck.

Great news, I don't know what it looked like (before my time :) ), but from the pictures in the Getting Started article, it will be great!
